WE'RE HERE BY YOUR SIDE

By Margaret Daye

No one knew your pain
No one walked in your shoes
Now you are gone
Your death held the clues

Of how you suffered
The ends you would take
That should have been avoided
Except for one mistake

We're dealing with a people
Who don't know our pain
Can't fathom the heartache
That makes us go insane

Don't worry Donny
We're here by your side
And we'll fight to the finish
Remembering how you died

For you had a dream
To feel pain-free and alive
And that same dream
Remains as we strive

For a better tomorrow
Where no one will die
No more to pick up pieces
No more tears will we cry

THE MONSTERS INSIDE
By Margaret Daye

I wake up in a cold sweat
In a strange place
Wondering what I've done
What it is I cannot face
Running out of places to hide
Always running from the monsters inside

I reach for my fix
A stiff drink with no mix
Light a joint to calm my fears
Wash away anxieties with a couple of beers
Dark lines encircle my eyes…cause I'm fried
Always running from the monsters inside

Can you help me find my way back..
Help me escape this insanity?
I've tried to get on the right track
But something stops me…could it be vanity?
Afraid of people knowing…so I've lied
Always running from the monsters inside

I feel more dead than I do alive
No longer the need or desire to survive
Many people judge my every move
And remind me how they disapprove
A drug-induced sleep might help me hide
Always running from the monsters inside

Your hands are shaking as my story is told
As my life begins swiftly to unfold
For it is you speaking for me today
As mourners wish they could run away
But they know there is no place to hide
Today they're facing their monsters inside

JUST ONE VOICE
By Margaret Daye

It started out as just one voice, With a message for all to hear
A remedy for man and beast, A drug no one need fear

I never thought I'd see the day, One voice would be united
By more than half the country, At last this wrong is righted

All those opposed to smoking pot, Come over to our side
What is it that is stopping you? Could it be your pride?

I've tried all kinds of treatments, To try and ease my pain
Marijuana is all I've found, Legal or not--I'll smoke it again

Unite with that one voice my friends, Light just another candle
A change is better than a rest, And this one we could handle

ODE TO LAUGHING GRASS
By John C. Turmel

(To the tune of "Glory Glory Halleluiah")

Throughout all history, hemp's been a plant of great repute, Four months to grow a mini-tree of twenty foot from shoot,

More oxygen converted from dioxide-carbon smogs, Four times more wood than forestry can chop trees into logs.

A hardy plant, insecticides and fertilizers, not, It grows so tall the shade kills weeds for fertile garden plot.

For crops of untold uses which can soon be realized, Our greatest source of bio-mass must first be legalized.

Hemp fuel, hemp paints, hemp varnishes, hemp fibers, cloth and rope,Hemp fertilizer, oil and plastics, medicines of hope.

It's source of protein primary for man and beast alike, The best plant used for finger in environmental dike.

REFRAIN:
Hemp protects human environment,
Hemp provents human defilement,
Hemp promotes human achievement,
God's gift for certain life.

ODE TO THE LITTLE HERB

Oh little herb here in my hand

I wonder how you understand

Just what to do or where to go

To stop the rigidity that hurts me so

Within your cover lies relief

You work alone in unbelief

In search for my relief in regions below

As into my system you slowly go

But I wonder little herb

How do you know where I am ill?

How do you really know?

Just where you are supposed to go

I have medical problems that is true

So how can anything so very small

Help me end my troubles in no time at all

You work alone without a crew

To do all the good things that you do

I am counting on you mighty and strong

To help me with what is wrong

To get in there where you belong

ODE TO THE LITTLE HERB

Please don’t let me down and please don’t shirk

Do your undercover work to me

For all to see how you help me

Into my system you slowly go

Getting on your way

To end my immobility for another day

Don’t make a wrong turn is my plea

Because I need the help from thee

To be set free from the prison within me

For the whole world to see the happiness you bring me

Oh little herb I am glad to see

You can help to set me free

To make my day the best it can be

Oh little herb I thank thee for all the help you give MEE

With petro-fuels with sulfur being burned into the air, A fuel of bio-mass would help environmental care.

The industry of dirty petro-chemicals may fear, It's nature's agri-chemicals we'll substitute, it's clear.

While alcohol debases, vibes of negative grow strong, God's laughing grass makes calm and jolly, wishing no one wrong.

There's never been recorded death from using hemp, they say, It's sedative that fits receptors in our DNA.

The chance that we may yet evade environmental doom, With planet's fastest growing vegetable, noneed for gloom,

The Abolitionists charge that "On lies are based these laws. Abolishing hemp prohibition is our second cause.

The Canadian Herbal Plea

We stand together Canada,

To be proud, glorious and free,

Now is the time for you Canada

Legalize marijuana and let me be.

Legalize marijuana.

To relive the pain you cannot see,

The anguish that I live with,

Deep inside of me.

Medical problems arise it’s true,

What’s a person suppose to do?

No more pills they don’t work,

I’ve taken many, and I still hurt.

Oh Canada, please help me,

You have the power to set me free.

You can do it why don’t you see,

Legalizing marijuana would sure help me.

You are you and I am me.
